Amirkhan, Ellen and Aaron Groseclose A Comprehensive Guide to Oriental and Specialty Rug Cleaning  Oriental Rug Cleaning Company, Inc. Dallas 2006 (2008) Over 900 illustrations 403 pp. 8.5 x 11 Spiralbound in New condition This 19 chapter book is the first of its kind written for the rug cleaning professional. Many books have been written on oriental rugs with an emphasis on history, structure, culture and identification with cleaning as an afterthought. Many of these authors have limited firsthand experience with the challenges of day-to-day commercial rug cleaning and repair. Of particular interest to the restoration industry, this book covers effective procedures for handling smoke damaged, sewage, mold and fungal contaminated rugs. This information is new, has not appeared elsewhere, and was written specifically for this book. Over 900 photographs, maps and drawings illustrate how to inspect and clean rugs most commonly encountered in a rug cleaning business. Drawing upon their years of cleaning, teaching, appraising, and visiting the most respected and successful companies in the country, the authors combined research with firsthand knowledge in developing the most comprehensive guide in the rug cleaning industry. The book has practical how-to steps for identifying problem rugs, inspection procedures, cleaning methods and how to set-up a rug cleaning facility. Your knowledge is the best marketing tool in building your business.

The stylized tulips, roses, carnations, and other flowers came to embody the influence of the empire, and continue to epitomize the arts of Turkey. Through 58 works of art drawn from the best of The Textiles Museum's collections and private and institutional loans "The Sultan's Garden" reveals the lasting impact of this stylistic revolution. Includes court costume, horse adornment, vestments, carpets, brocaded silks, velvets, and furnishings from The Textile Museum. New Titles Added

We want to wish you all a happy and prosperous 2013.

In June, author and scholar, Stefano Ionescu will lead another cultural and rug tour to Transylvania to see nearly 300 of the most beautiful Ottoman Turkish rugs in the world, dating from the fifteenth to the eighteenth centuries and preserved in the region’s churches and museums. We have been on Stefano’s Transylvanian tour and heartily recommend it.

Meller, Susan Russian Textiles: Printed Cloth for the Bazaars of Central Asia  Abrams New York 2007  208 pp 10 x 12 Hardback in dustjacket in Very Good condition  With photography by Don Tuttle. Essays by Kate Fitz Gibbon, Annie Carlano, and Robert Kushner. "Susan Meller is coauthor of Abrams' highly successful publication Textile Designs: Two Hundred Years of European and American Patterns for Printed Fabrics Organized by Motif, Style, Color, Layout, and Period, the definitive source book for textile patterns. Now, in Russian Textiles, another groundbreaking volume, she focuses on her favorite textiles, the gorgeous printed-cotton fabrics created and manufactured in Russia from about 1860 to 1960 specifically for export to Central Asia. Virtually all the textiles in this book are from the author's collection and are being reproduced here for the first time.********** The countries of Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Kyrgyzstan - once known collectively as Russian Turkestan - are areas of strategic importance and vast natural resources; they also represent an extremely rich cultural heritage, much of it centered around the unique textile traditions of the region. The people in these Central Asian countries incorporated the brightly patterned material into their clothing, particularly their robes, as well as their house-hold items. Russian Textiles explores through cloth the political, economic, and cultural ties between Russia and Central Asia, giving the reader both insight into this complex region and an opportunity to appreciate the beauty of its textiles - many of which have been hidden from view inside the robes they lined. One could say that this is indeed the "inside story."**********Russian Textiles showcases more than 190 spectacular patterns spanning a variety of periods and styles, ranging from Art Nouveau florals to Soviet-era agitprop. Essays by the author and fellow textile experts Kate Fitz Gibbon and Annie Carlano descibe the "social life" of the fabrics and the fascinating history of this merging of Russian, Central Asian, and Western aesthetic styles. Robert Kushner contributes a lively text on how an artist "sees" and is inspired by these designs. Complementing the pattern images are vintage photographs from Central Asia at the turn of the twentieth century as well as beautifully detailed reproductions of the robes and other articles that were lined and embellished with these cloths. In all, more than 250 exquisite reproductions are included. Inside this book is a beautiful world waiting to be explored and treasured by artists; fashion, interior, or product designers; crafters; and anyone with a love of extraordinary visual design." -Cover
